OUR PHILOSOPHY
We feel that we have a different philosophy here at the ranch, and some people may not know exactly why we are different, and why we do things the way we do.
The philosophy behind Lone Star Dog Ranch actually came from Renee’s extensive experience running a grooming salon, similar in many ways to how we operate now.
Many of Renee’s customers would express dissatisfaction at the options available to board their dog while away from home. Customers were unhappy with the conditions of kennels, the isolation their dog would feel being in a dog run all day long, lack of personal interaction with their dog, lack of exercise, and the stress their dog would feel being left alone for however long they were away.
This is what really gave us the idea to open Lone Star Dog Ranch. We felt that we could meet the needs of customers like the ones who expressed their concerns to Renee at her grooming salon. We felt we could give them a place where their dog could feel more comfortable. That their dog would have a pleasant experience while they were away from home.
Here are a few of the main principles that we follow:
LEADERSHIP
All dogs want someone to lead them. If they don’t have leadership in their lives they will become the leader themselves, which causes almost all the common problems seen in dogs today. Dogs are social animals that like to co-exist with other dogs in most cases. They enjoy the interaction in an instinctual way. What has to exist in this environment is a pack leader for them all to follow. That pack leader needs to be you.
EXERCISE
All of the dogs that stay with us at the Ranch have the ability to do as they please and for many that consists of lots and lots of exercise. Swimming, running, and playing is ongoing all throughout the day. They stay busy, and awake most of the day, which alleviates stress, and allows them to sleep very well at night. It is important to us that when you bring your dog home it has had the time of it’s life. Don’t be surprised if your dog sleeps for 2 or 3 days after coming home. While they are at the ranch they will probably be getting much more exercise than they get while at home. This is exactly what we strive for. We intend for your dogs to be so busy and entertained that they hardly notice you’re gone. When we achieve this we eliminate the usual stress that comes from boarding your dog.
FREEDOM
The only times the dogs are confined are to eat their meals, and when it is time for lights out. Each dog will have his own den with his own bed or one he can share with his friend if he wants. The dogs are confined to sleep because it is safer in case of an emergency to evacuate for any reason. It is also unwise to allow dogs to roam in a dark room where they can irritate another dog while sleeping. Dogs are naturally den animals and they don’t mind sleeping in one.
The dogs are living in an a home like environment in which they will have the total freedom to go outside to play with other dogs. There they can swim in the pond, wrestle with a pal, or just lie under a tree in the shade if they like. If they want to be indoors, they can simply go inside the air conditioned and heated 3000 square foot recreation room, there they can play or they can slip into the den’s and be alone to sleep if they want. Human interaction is present at all times and some dogs just choose to follow us around wherever we go, and that’s okay too.
We feel we offer many options for our customers. Whether you want your dog to stay with us while you have your vacation, or just for the day, we are sure your dog will enjoy himself.
We know you have other options in boarding your pet but we honestly feel that the kind of care your dog will get here, you won’t find at any other boarding facility. We know that leaving your pet anywhere is stressful and we hope to alleviate your fears and certainly the fears of your dog.
